The casino

Aspers Newcastle trades on scale and atmosphere — a large floor with a full spread of table games, a poker room, electronic gaming and an extensive bank of machines, plus a sports bar that fills up around the big fixtures. It matches the energy of the city it serves, and there is usually a seat and always a buzz.

Where to stay

There are no rooms at the casino, but Newcastle's compact centre and its famous Quayside are within easy reach, both thick with hotels. The Vermont, the Crowne Plaza and the boutique rooms toward the Quayside offer smart stays a short ride or walk away, with plenty of chains around the station. For a night out that runs late, you are never far from a bed.

Dining & extras

Inside there is a restaurant and a lively sports bar, and the events calendar keeps live nights ticking over. The real extra, though, is Newcastle itself — the Quayside, the Bigg Market and one of the best-value nights out in the country are all a short hop from the door.

Location & value

The casino sits handily for both the city centre and the racecourse side of town, easy to reach and easy to leave. Newcastle is famously good value for food, drink and hotels, so a big night here costs far less than the equivalent in London — one of the strongest value picks in this guide.
